Rock-A-Bye

May 29, 2015 by ajpassey Leave a Comment

Rock-A-Bye

Rock-a-bye, Baby,
Upon the tree top,
When the wind blows
The cradle will rock;
When the bough breaks
The cradle will fall,
Down tumbles cradle,
Baby and all.

Also known as Hush-A-Bye, this song can be either a lullaby (though slightly disturbing at that) or an action song (much more fitting). As an action song, hold the infant or child cradled in your arms. Gently rock the little one back and forth as the wind blows. The when the cradle falls and down tumbles baby, gently lower your arms quickly, and “catch” your little one. Older preschoolers love this song and you can be a little more active in your actions.

Good Night Dinosaur

May 7, 2015 by ajpassey Leave a Comment

Good Night Dinosaur!

One little dinosaur
Was sent to bed.
He stomped his feet,
And he shook his head!

Two big dinosaurs
Said, “No, no, no!”
I want to stay up,
I will not go!”

Three loving dinosaurs
Hugged each other tight.
They gave a big kiss
And said “Good Night!”

One little dinosaur (hold up one finger)
Was sent to bed. (place hands beneath cheek as if asleep)

Frosty the Snowman

December 16, 2014 by ajpassey Leave a Comment

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the Snowman, was a jolly happy soul,
With a corn cob pipe and a button nose, and two eyes made of coal.

Frosty the Snowman, is a fairytale, they say.
He was made of snow, but the children know he came to life one day.

There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found,
For when they placed it on his head, he began to dance around!

Oh, Frosty, the Snowman, was alive as he could be;
and the children say he could laugh and play,
just the same as you and me.

Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump,
look at Frosty go.

Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump,
over the hills of snow.

Frosty the Snowman, knew the sun was hot that day,
so he said, “Let’s run, and we’ll have some fun now, before I melt away.”

Down to the village, with a broomstick in his hand,
Running here and there, all around the square,
sayin’, “Catch me if you can.”

He led them down the streets of town, right to the traffic cop;
and only paused a moment, when he heard him holler, “Stop!”

For Frosty, the Snowman, had to hurry on his way,
But he waved goodbye, sayin’ “Don’t cry, I’ll be back again some day.

Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump,
look at Frosty go.

Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump,
over the hills of snow.
