In other men’s ditches.

The Man in the Wilderness

The Man in the Wilderness

The man in the wilderness asked me
How many strawberries grew in the sea.
I answered him as I thought good,
As many herrings as grew in the wood.

I Had a Little Hobby Horse

The Hobby Horse

I had a little hobby horse,
And it was dapple gray.
Its head was made of pea-straw,
Its tail was made of hay.
I sold it to an old woman
For a copper groat;
And I’ll not sing my song again
Without another coat.

Tippy Toe

Tippy Toe

Tippy tippy tiptoe see how we go.
Tippy tippy tiptoe to and fro.
Tippy tippy tiptoe through the house.
Tippy tippy tiptoe like a mouse.

Two Little Blackbirds

Two Little Blackbirds

Two little blackbirds sitting on a hill.
{hold up one finger from each hand}
One named Jack and the other named Jill.
{lift one hand for each name}
Fly away, Jack. Fly away, Jill.
{hide one hand behind back for Jack and the other for Jill}
Come back, Jack. Come back, Jill.
{bring back one hand for Jack and the other for Jill}
Two little blackbirds sitting on a hill.
{hold up one finger from each hand}

Traffic Lights

Traffic Lights

“Stop,” says the red light,
“Go,” says the green,
“Wait,” says the yellow light
Blinking in between.
That’s what they say and
That’s what they mean.
We all must obey them,
Even the Queen.

The Man in the Moon Came Down Too Soon

The Man in the Moon

The man in the moon
Came down too soon
And asked his way to Norwich

He went by the south
And burnt his mouth
With supping cold plum porridge

The Man in the Moon Looked Down From the Moon

The Man in the Moon

The man in the moon looked down from the moon
Looked down from the moon and said,
“Tis time for all children on the earth
To think about going to bed.”

Ten Little Firefighters

10 Little Firefighters

Ten little firefighters sleeping in a row
Ding, ding goes the bell and down the pole they go.
Off on the engine, oh, oh, oh.
Using the big hose so, so, so.
When all the fire’s our, home so slow.
Back into bed, all in a row.

Tickle the Clouds

Tickle the Clouds

Tickle the clouds
Tickle your toes
Turn around and tickle your nose
Reach down low
And reach up high
Story time’s over —
Wave good-bye!

The words are pretty clear on the actions that go along with the rhyme.
This is a great rhyme for the end of a storytime or laptime

Variation: Change “Story time” to “Laptime”
